Crew Member
Job Description
As an Inland Shipping Sailor, you are an essential crew member aboard a vessel operating on inland waterways. You assist in the safe and efficient operation of the ship, including navigation support, cargo handling, maintenance, and mooring operations. You work under the supervision of the captain or skipper and collaborate closely with other crew members to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with mooring, unmooring, and locking operations
- Perform maintenance tasks such as painting, cleaning, and minor repairs on the vessel
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring correct handling procedures are followed
- Monitor and assist with the navigation and safety of the vessel
- Carry out watchkeeping duties as required
- Follow all safety and environmental regulations
- Communicate effectively with the captain and other crew members
- Operate deck equipment and machinery when needed
Requirements:
- Experience in inland shipping or relevant maritime work is preferred
- Basic knowledge of vessel operations and safety procedures
- Good physical condition and willingness to work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions
- Valid inland navigation certificates (e.g., service booklet, medical certificate)
Work Environment:
You will work on various types of inland vessels, such as cargo ships, tankers, or passenger ships.
